Mayke Nas

Mayke Nas (1972) is a Dutch composer who pairs playfulness with an entirely unique approach to sound and musical action in each of her works. For example, she enjoys creating music for musicians breathing simultaneously, for moving chairs, wired blackboards and bridges opening. She considers herself fortunate to have worked with Nieuw Ensemble, Asko|Schönberg, Slagwerk Den Haag, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Bl!ndman, the Neue Vocalsolisten, Eighth Blackbird, Calefax and other musical wizards. For the 2011-2012 season Nas was awarded an artist-in-residence fellowship of the DAAD.
